In the Bible, Jesus showed us daily examples of service to the community. Jesus was never content to simply stand in the churches and synagogues of that day and preach the gospel (Luke 4:38-40). He always went where the need was, and ministered to the need himself. In other words, he was involved.
We all want to help others in some way, but sometimes we’re just not sure how. We may say, “I don’t have much money”, or “I just don’t have the time”, but God has uniquely gifted each one of us to serve in some capacity (1 Cor. 7:7). Actually, God’s Word teaches us that above and beyond any spiritual gift we may possess, there is one perfect gift – love (1 Cor. 13). So if we simply show love to others, we are actually giving the most priceless gift of all.
BE INVOLVED – SERVE CHRIST
“For I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in.” (Matthew 25:35)
The most beautiful thing about giving the gift of love to others is that God considers it a gift unto himself (Matt. 25:37-40). So whatever we do for others, God takes it personally, and as Jesus promises us in Matthew 6:4, “Give your gifts in private, and your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.” God is always faithful to His Word, and always remember, no gift is too big, or too small (Mark 12:41-44).
